Project Details

Jila Coquille Tribal family! Welcome to the future. The goal of this project is to plan and implement a community-wide visioning process for our nation. We need your input. Getting your thoughts will help make sure this work reflects our needs, wants, and desires. We need to hear from everyone, so our vision reflects who we are.

2039 Timeline

The 2039 visioning project began in December 2023. It should be ready for viewing by August 2024.

What to Expect

1. Vision Statement

  • This may be a slight revision of our existing statement, or a complete rewrite.
  • This will be a combination of words and images added to the other final products. It will also be a poster.

2. Three to Seven Core Values/Teachings

  • These will be based on our constitutional requirements and core values.
  • This will be a combination of words and images added to the other final products. It will also be a poster.

3. Three to Seven Community Goals

  • Statements about what the Tribe will achieve by 2039.
  • Statements will provide clear direction to Tribal government.
  • Statements will be based on Tribal member needs, wants, and priorities, and our constitutional requirements and core values.
  • This will be a combination of words and images added to the other final products. It will also be a poster.

Ko-Kwel 2039 Updates

  • In December 2023, we held six interviews with people from our community.
  • In January 2024, we held our first community visioning steering committee meeting.
  • In January, we held a Tribal Council visioning session.
  • In February, we created a survey for our membership. The survey will be sent out in March. Responses will help update our strategic plan
